Raising Generation XXL

Raising Generation XXL is the result of hard work and experience, serious investigation, and most importantly, the desire to make a difference.

Parents today are frequently confronted with conflicting ideas and information telling us how much exercise children should get and what they should and shouldn’t eat and.

We need to stop “shoulding” all over ourselves and start to identify simple strategies we can implement in our everyday lives that create a healthy lifestyle for both our children, and the entire family.

What makes this book different to the rest of the books focusing on childhood obesity is that it focuses on 3 key messages:

  • Keep it Simple – I did not want to prescribe a long list of Do’s and Don’ts, instead I am giving you simple strategies you can easily use every day to improve the health of your child
  • Make It Fun – From my two decades of experience working with children I know that if things are not fun children will not engage. Therefore I have provided a wide variety of fun physical activities the whole family can enjoy.
  • Make It a Family Affair – As an educator and counselor I know that parents are the most influential people in children’s lives. It is therefore vital that parents are involved in the new healthy lifestyle that the child is trying to adopt. It is no good asking the child to do as you say not as you do. Your actions speak louder than words.
